Geisha Bar, Lockdown and Perth House Project presents Max Chapman
After an electrifying show last June, Max Chapman is back in Perth, and ready to blow the roof clean off Geisha again on Sat Feb 24th
In 2011, Max Chapman burst onto the underground house scene when his first record was supported by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. In 2018, things came full circle as Max was invited by Pete to record his debut Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, and his success was further galvanised by industry peers at the DJ Awards when he won the ‘Breakthrough’ category. The momentum continued in 2019 when he was nominated at the same DJ Awards in the ‘Tech house’ category, and with each year of his career yielding new accolades and achievements, his flawless productions and infectious personality have rightly seen Max Chapman become an industry favourite. With an impressive repertoire of charting productions, Max's 2016 track 'Body Jack' on elrow hit the #1 spot on the Beatport Tech House chart just 10 days after release, going on to claim the overall #1 across all genres a few days later. His second Beatport #1 followed in 2017 with ‘La Fiesta’ which was released on Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations imprint – a milestone in any DJ’s career and a seal of approval that set up successful releases on FFRR, Virgin EMI, Hot Trax, Superfett, Relief, Solá, Toolroom, NONSTOP and more.
To date, he has achieved four genre #1s, two overall #1s, seven top 10 releases, and fourteen top 20 releases - impressive stats by themselves, but which also help explain his place as one of Beatport’s top ten best-selling producers in his genre for the last three years. His groove-filled DJ sets have left him with an enviable diary that makes Max one of the most prolific touring artists in his scene. Recent years have seen him hit shows and tours across the UK, Europe, North America, South America, Australia and Canada, at venues and events like Fabrik Madrid, Tobacco Docks, Ushuaia, Hi, DC10 and Amnesia in Ibiza, Lost Beach in Ecuador, The Klan in Chile, Hideout Festival, Eastern Electrics, and a main stage appearance at 2019’s We Are FSTVL.
Looking to the future and after a post COVID world, there’s plenty for Max to look forward to with bookings for 2021 lining up already..
Alongside his own DJ career, Max runs his label, Resonance Records. Utilising his resources, the label has blossomed into a highly respected platform for the finest underground house music with releases from the likes of CamelPhat, Solardo, wAFF, Richy Ahmed, Detlef, Mark Jenkyns, George Smeddles and more. More recently, he launched a new sub-label called ‘Circles’ which will focus on sounds reflecting his true house roots and vinyl releases.
It’s been a rollercoaster since day one and it’s easy to see why people like Adam Beyer, Riva Starr, Steve Lawler, Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed, Hot Since 82, Loco Dice, Matthias Tanzmann, Pete Tong, Nic Fanculli and many more of the biggest names in the business ardently support everything Max Chapman does. If 2018 could be considered the breakthrough year - here in 2021, he has well and truly cemented himself as one of the industry’s biggest success stories.
