Winners of the 2020 FRINGE WORLD Festival Martins Sims Award, Kohesia Quartet are back with a night of original music. Led by award-winning double bassist Kate Pass and featuring Reza Mirzaei, Esfandiar Shahmir and Mike Zolker, the Kohesia Quartet combines the sounds of Persian ney, saz and oud with double bass for a world-class listening experience. This intimate performance is on the back of their recently released second album Silver Lining (Sep 24, 2021) which follows on from their 2018 debut, Kohesia, where they were nominated for ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Jazz Act’ and ‘Best World Act’ in the 2018 WAM Awards, and were one of the four acts to be shortlisted for the Martin Sims Award at FRINGE WORLD (2019). Kohesia Ensemble has performed at festivals including National Folk Festival, Illawarra Folk Festival (NSW), Fairbridge Festival, WAMFest and Nannup Music Festival. Their 2020 PIJF appearance sold out well in advance, so don’t hesitate to get your tickets!
