Zela Margossian Quintet (NSW)

The ARIA-nominated Zela Margossian Quintet is riding high on the back of its critically acclaimed 2022 release, The Road. Pianist Margossian – described as a “bright new force” by The Sydney Morning Herald – has garnered international attention in recent years for her kaleidoscopic original works and arrangements carrying influences from Armenian traditional music, melded with jazz and classical roots.

Alongside Margossian, ZMQ features a talented and multicultural line-up of Sydney musicians in Alexander Inman-Hislop (drums), Adem Yilmaz (percussion), Jacques Emery (double bass) and Stuart Vandegraaff (saxophone and woodwind). Together, the Zela Margossian Quintet creates an exotic musical atmosphere that will take you on an emotive and immersive musical journey.

“This is freshly minted contemporary jazz bursting with panache.” – All About Jazz

“This is music that can be returned to again and again, each time revealing a little more of itself with its abundance of inner detail.” - JazzWise
