Plastic Free Forum 2024
SJ Farmers Market is excited to be co-hosting the 2nd annual Plastic Free July event in collaboration with the SJ Community Resource Centre (SJ CRC).
Plastic Free Living is an initiative that began with the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale in 2023 and its success last year inspired the SJ CRC to take it under their wing. This year so far there have been a number of events aligned with the values and goals of Plastic Free Living and sustainable lifestyles and this event on July 6 is the final event of the series for 2024.
Our guest speaker this year is none other than Amy from My Nonna Life, who recently featured on Better Homes & Gardens, with her Beginners Guide to Preserving. She will be sharing her love and joy of doing things from scratch, the old fashioned way, inspiring you to embrace your inner Nonna.
We also have hands on workshops where you can make and take it home.
Make Your Own Natural Cleaning Products with Sunny – save money and reduce waste by making your own cleaning products from common household ingredients. This workshop has limited spaces so you will need to book your FREE ticket here. If you miss out on a ticket you can still listen in and take notes so you can make it yourself at home.
Upcycling with Kimitup – our local upcycling queen Kimitup will be sharing her skills and teaching you how to Make your own Cork Fairy House or Cork Mushroom as she turns something old into something new and useful. This workshop has limited spaces so you will need to book your FREE ticket here. If you miss out on a ticket you can still listen in and take notes so you can make it yourself at home.
Nat from Kookaburra Nook our local Homesteading guru will be sharing with us How we can Reduce House and Garden Waste. Come and join Nat as she shares some of the ways her family try to be more sustainable around their home and garden. With plenty of ideas to be shared you are certainly bound to take something away that you will be able to try at home.
Alongside these amazing speakers and workshops we have our Saturday morning shopping day at the SJ Farmers Market. Our stallholders stand by the plastic free living ethos and you can show your support by stopping for a chat to see how they contribute to improving their community and environment.
