PJS Presents: Engadine Trio and Radio Repairs
Perth Jazz Society are proud to present a Double Bill of original Perth jazz musicians. On March 25 we will feature up-and-coming Engadine Trio led by Ben Griffith and Radio Repairs (Dan Dipaola, Ricki Malet, Phil Waldron and Ronan Charles).
Radio Repairs
Original jazz quartet Radio Repairs - Ricki Malet (trumpet), Ronan Charles (piano), Dan Dipaola (drums) and Phil Waldron (double bass) - have now racked up 20 odd years of playing and writing instrumental music together. If you could make a new music machine out of deeply scratched jazz records and old photographs of your mother when she still smoked, and then tied it all together with a genuine vintage snapped high-wire that a circus left behind, then you’d pretty much get the taste of their blend of chilled noir balladry and the kind of elastic groove and improv that comes from so many years of playing together. Not to be missed.
Engadine Trio
Engadine Trio is the brainchild of James Sewell, Kane Shaw and Ben Griffith blending modern jazz with folksy Australian elements. Originally inspired to explore the space of a drumless trio influenced by artists such as Paul Motion, Julien Wilson Trio and Bill Frisell, the group has recently released its first EP.
