Performance Workshop Series

01:00pm, Wed 23rd Oct 2024 - 04:00pm, Wed 23rd Oct 2024

This Performance Workshop Series is designed to given and overview and insight into three key areas where the latest approaches in the world of sports psychology can be applied to sporting clubs, organisations and athletes. Across three separate workshops, attendees will gain a foundational understanding of how to build a performance psychology curriculum, how to build high performance environments and the role of mental conditioning programs. Participants are welcome to attend an individual workshop or attend all three.

This workshop series will be lead by Michael Inglis and his team from The Mind Room, a Melbourne based psychology practice with extensive experience working across AFL, Rugby Union, Soccer, Cycling, Swimming and Cricket. These sessions will be of particular interest to many High Performance Managers, GMs, Directors and leaders of sports organisations both large and small.

WORKSHOP 1 (1:00PM - 1:45PM)
How to Build a Performance Psychology Curriculum

This workshop will explore how to implement a performance psychology program within your club or organisation. Many clubs understand that having a psychology program is important but not sure what it looks like for their sport and how to implement it within their High Performance system. This workshop will demonstrate how to build a curriculum for your specific needs and how to develop that within the team including coaches, athletes and sport science staff.

Presenter: Michael Inglis

WORKSHOP 2 (2:00PM - 2:45PM)
High Performance, Beyond the Athletes

This workshop will explore how staff can create high performance environments for athletes. We typically assign sport psychology to athletes directly and this will always have value. However, this workshop will demonstrate the importance of the environment that the athletes perform and connect with, as a model of improving performance outcomes. The environment includes sport science staff, management staff, and coaches so this workshop would interest these groups.

Presenter: Dean Cooper

WORKSHOP 3 (3:00PM - 3:45PM)
Mental Conditioning Program

This workshop will explore how to condition athletes for the mental rigours of performance. This program is comprehensive in learning how to cope with all the psychological factors of sport. Audience will learn how to perform at their best at a more consistent level no matter the conditions in front of them.

Presenters: Michael Inglis and Bailey Opie
