NEW TALK "Time & Memory" Album Launch

08:00pm, Fri 16th Apr 2021

NEW TALK's long awaited 2nd album 'Time & Memory' has just been released and the band will be launching it Friday April 16 at the Rechabite!

The album is NEW TALK truly expanding and exploring these two key concepts through their signature overwhelming sound and experimenting with new textures and form. Working again with Dave Parkin (wizard) and Sarah Register (Protomartyr) the album displays both their missives on patriarchy, toxic masculinity, contemporary Australian issues and deeply personal reflections on love & death. Drawing from varied references and their own well of experiences, the album aims to draw people in through directness and unity.

Joining the launch party lineup are:

Joni in the Moon – joniinthemoon.bandcamp.com/music

Ethereal songstress Joni Hogan conjures lush, layered, experimental-electro-folk music exploring the interdependence of humans and nature, and the reverie in which the two intertwine. Most recently you may have witnessed Joni on tour with award-winning drag cabaret group YUMMY, at Perth Festival's Art Feast as duo Familiar Spirits or her eco-drag persona Bouché Pig. Let us step into Joni In The Moon’s infinitely layered otherworld together.

Ash Baroque – www.instagram.com/ashbaroque

The one and only! Infamously revered as the prized vulgarian, powder-keg theatre/performance artisté Ash Baroque is a psychodramatist who's work oscillates between provocative anarchy and tender ruminations on the human condition. Baroque probes abuse, trauma & oppression as subject matter, whilst plotting a revenge fantasy on the patriarchy. Born from queer art punk, Ash Baroque's original displaced persona is an homage to hedonism and reclaims the individualist amidst a sanitized society.

Tether – www.tethermusic.com

Colliding dark synths with gritty guitar lines, Tether is a captivating alternative pop project. Following their impressive recent appearance at WAMfest, the 4-piece recently released their new EP ‘Severence’ available now on Bandcamp. Tether's sound has drawn comparison to artists such as Silversun Pickups and Warpaint with their synth-heavy, riff driven sound. Catch Tether open the evening's preceedings with their energetic and ever evolving live show.

RITUALS DJs – www.instagram.com/rituals.perth

Residents from Perth's spookiest DJ collective will be sharing duties behind the decks, spinning their signature dark alternative selections in-between and after each live act. Team RITUALS are utterly thrilled to be part of this launch party and will be keeping the celebrations going after NEW TALK's performance with a special two-hour set – prepare to dance the night away!

NEW TALK acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which this event will be held: the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation and pay their respects to all elders, past, present & emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded - always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
