Greenwich Revisited

Greenwich Revisited
For the second half of the 1990s, Greenwich was the epicentre of the live music and arts world of Perth.
Founded by Richard Evans (now PIJF managing director) and entrepreneur Adil Bux, this creative hub hosted art exhibitions, spoken word poetry nights with Tim Minchin, and was the starting point for the Revelation Film Festival. Some of the world’s first live-streamed music events came from the stage of Greenwich.
Before Ellington, Greenwich was where most of WA’s leading jazz musicians got their start, including Graeme Wood, Jamie Oehlers, Carl Mackey, James Sandon, Michael Pignéguy, Matt Jodrell and many more.
Leading Australian Jazz musicians including James Morrison and Vince Jones performed in this legendary venue, while Perth bands and singers including Eskimo Joe, Gyroscope, Jebediah and Luke Steele (Empire of the Sun) also kicked off their careers there.
For one night only, Greenwich comes back to life. This event for PIJF celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the Michael Pignéguy Sextet recording its album MPS Live at Greenwich.
Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 was on a continual loop and set the scene for the elegant, bohemian scene that was Greenwich. For this event, Georgie Aué and Victoria Newton will combine vocal forces to bring this soundtrack to life.
DJ Jimmy Mac will provide the tunes for the rest of the night.
Whether you were there the first time around or this is your introduction, don’t miss this celebration of the fabulous world of Greenwich.
