NEW TALK
Electifying, poetic, raw, visceral and entrancing, all these have been used to describe Perth-based 'polished scungers’ NEW TALK (formerly known as Rag n’ Bone). With a sound that echoes PJ Harvey, Savages and The Birthday Party mixed with the political edge of Midnight Oil, the band offers a modern and more literary take on post-punk.

NEW TALK are currently in the studio recording their second album. Under their previous moniker, the last couple of years saw the band release their debut album A Handful Of Ash, play Australian festivals such as Falls Festival, WAMFest and SOTA, along with Music Matters and Baybeats (both Singapore), Rock A La Buse (Reunion Island) and Concrete & Glass (China). The band also had shows supporting Stiff Little Fingers, Future Of The Left, WAAX, Jen Cloher and Gold Class, to name a few.

Comprising of Kiera Owen (vocals), Sara McPherson (bass), Axel Carrington (guitar) and Jamie Gallacher (drums), NEW TALK have been nominated for WAM (West Australian Music) Awards in 2016 and 2017, to go with nominations in Australia’s National Live Music Awards in 2017 (including a win for Kiera as ‘live voice of the year’) and 2018. The band has also won the punk category of the WA Song Of The Year contest (in 2015 and 2017) and the rock category in 2016.
