Ecstatic Dance is a global movement active in 100+ cities around the world and launched for the first time in Bali in 2009 by Yoga Barn co-founder Charley Patton. The Yoga Barn Sunday Ecstatic Dance is an all-ages community gathering where you can simply BE yourself and experience freedom through the rhythms of global beats and movement.
Please, come-as-you-are to experience this substance-free, uplifting and happy space of dance and free movement - let your inhibitions melt away. On Sunday’s Ecstatic Dance is for all ages and abilities.  


Ecstatic Dance General Etiquette:

1. Practice Consent: for those who are into Contact Dance, please note that not everyone wants to be in contact, please have pre-contact consent from anyone you choose to partner dance with.

2. Practice Privacy: Please respect the space of other dancers. In the age of social distancing, please only contact those you already know personally.

3. Practice Silence: This is a class to FEEL, not to speak. Please go within and try as hard as you can to stay silent when on the dance floor.

4. Practice Clarity: This is a substance-free, free-form dance experience.

5. Practice Humility: This is a time when you can dive within and dance as you wish for YOU, not for anyone else..

6. Practice Respectfully: Please cover your body out of respect for the comfort of others. It would be appreciated by the Balinese community if dancers would cover up thighs, breasts, chests, and private parts with looser clothing. As Meg, the co-founder of Yoga Barn suggests “ you can find a balance between expressing your personal freedom and respecting the boundaries and feelings of others collectively. This is about dancing with our community after all, isn’t it?”
