The art of portraiture is as old as art itself. The art of representing a specific person — their likeness, presence, and often their status or inner life — and it is among the oldest continuous traditions in art, stretching back more than 5,000 years to ancient Egypt. Across that span its job has quietly shifted: from securing the dead in the afterlife, to advertising power, to probing psychology, to the contested question of who gets to be seen at all. Each media also shapes the potential of the final outcome. Join Archibald finalists Stieg Persson and Taryn Cameron-Smith and fashion photographer Jordan Drysdale on interrogating what it is to capture people in paint and light. Taryn Cameron-Smith painted Akira Isogawa, Stieg Persson painted Virginia Trioli and Jordan Drysdale regularly photographs for fashion editorial. Join them as they explore the journey of deciding how to capture the figure in front of them.

Parking is on Welsford Street or the Goulburn River side of Eastbank (Marungi St, Quinan Pde, Goyen Reserve). The Marungi Street entrance is open for all performances and leads directly to the Box Office.
