Led by Choral Director Neville Talbot, repetiteur Julia Kershaw and Breaksea directors Matt Reuben James Ward & Pia Harris, participants aged between 12 and 18 years will be provided with opportunities for social connection, participation in music and performance, and to learn from local Menang elders.
In Term 2 we will be learning music from Aliwah Bardinar! (Look-out Rosella!) by Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse. The Breaksea Youth Ensemble will have the opportunity of performing in this production at the Albany Entertainment Centre in Term 2. Please note you do not need to perform in the production to participate in rehearsals.
Participation opportunities:
● Weekly sessions held after school hosted at local schools
● Sessions will provide young people with opportunities to participate in:
○ mindfulness, sharing stories and ideas,
○ learning from professional artists (singing, music, performance skills),
○ learning from elders

Multi-award winning composers of Wanjoo and Koolbardi wer Wardong, Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse’s new production tells the sweet Nyttiny (creation) story of how the Bardinar (Western Rosella) got its colours.
Premiering at the Albany Entertainment Centre in June 2025, the production features cheeky frogs, elegant swans and the beauty of the Noongar language.
